Forest Charter School Academics
Grades TK–8 Overview
We offer TK–8 students a variety of comprehensive learning options, including co-ops, block class enrichment classes, vendor-based enrichment, and home-based personalized education programs. Families and students work with their Supervising Teacher (ST) to develop a program that will support the child’s abilities, aptitude, and interests.
Students are not limited in the subjects and classes they can experience here at Forest Charter School. They can truly explore their passions and interests to forge a deeper connection with their schooling experience.
Our highly qualified, credentialed teachers are dedicated to assisting families in the selection and implementation of a program that is right for their student(s). This personalized learning approach honors the uniqueness of every child.
The TK–8 programs at FCS reflect our commitment to the Forest Charter School Learning Goals:
- Think creatively and critically – Students will be active problem solvers and use multiple resources and approaches to develop and present original ideas.
- Empathize and embrace diversity – Students will recognize and appreciate human differences.
- Persevere – Students will endure in the face of challenges.
High School Overview
Forest Charter School’s small learning community at the high school level enables each student to customize his or her individual standards-based program, in an environment that can offer the potential to work at their own pace with the support of credentialed teachers. By choosing from program options such as block classes, independent study, community college classes, or a blend of some or all of these options, students can explore unique pathways to meet their college and career goals.
Our high school program also allows time to pursue personal passions, such as sports teams, Aikido, gymnastics, dance, theater, mathematics, science, and all areas of the visual arts. Further, Forest Charter School offers a wide range of college prep, honors, and Advanced Placement opportunities for all interested students. Students can work individually, in small groups and/or with a tutor to reach these goals. The advantage of the Forest model is that students can select from a variety of options to create the ideal high school experience.
